Buffalo Wild Wings — a network of American family restaurants and sports bars. The network operates in the USA, Canada, Mexico and the Philippines. Their traditional menu includes chicken wings and a variety of sauces.
Network «Buffalo Wild Wings» was founded in 1982 by James Disbrow and Scott Lowry. Disbrow and Lowry came up with the idea of creating their own restaurant in 1980 when they met in Kent, Ohio, where Disbrow served as a judge in Amateur figure skating competitions at Kent state University. Their first restaurant opened in Columbus, Ohio, and then, a year later, opened another restaurant of the same chain in Westerville, Ohio.
Initially, this network was called Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck, in 1990 the network began to work on the principle of franchising. In 1998, the network was renamed Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar. As of February 2015, the number of institutions of this network was 1070 (485 networks owned by the company itself, and 585 operate on the principle of franchising) in all 50 States of America. More recently, this network is also known under the alternative name B-Dubs.
Until 1997, it was headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, and then changed its location to Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In 2010, this network announced its expansion and the emergence of its points in Canada. In 2012, Buffalo Wild Wings ‘ assets were $ 495 million.
IT ALL STARTED 35 YEARS AGO WITH TWO GUYS DRIVEN BY HUNGER
The year was 1982. Jim Disbrow and Scott Lowery had recently moved to Ohio from Buffalo, New York. All was fine until one day when the two were craving wings. Not just ordinary wings, but authentic Buffalo, New York-style chicken wings. With none to be found nearby, Jim and Scott had two choices: road trip to New York, or open a wing joint close to home. Lucky for us, they chose the latter. Hence, the beginning of Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck, now Buffalo Wild Wings®, the welcoming neighborhood atmosphere with a front-row seat for every sports fan that offers 21 mouth-watering signature sauces and seasonings.
BEER WAS A NO-BRAINER
And even back then, we wanted to make sure we had a huge selection. The tap lines may not have been as extensive as now, but back in the early 80s, anything from outside of your zip code was considered an import.
BEFORE WALL-TO-WALL FLAT SCREENS
Originally we only used the TV for music videos (remember those?). One day someone asked us to turn on the Ohio State game, and in the end, sports won out. Imagine that.
IF IT AIN’T BROKE
We may have added a few tap lines and come up with a couple more kinds of sauce, but the important parts are still the same. It’s still the ultimate place to eat wings, grab a cold one and meet your friends to watch a game.
Since our founding, we’ve grown to have a store in every state in the U.S. and continue to open B-Dubs around the world (you’re welcome, Earth).
No matter how many locations we’ve opened, where our corporate headquarters is or how many years we’ve been around, one thing remains the same: Buffalo Wild Wings is the ultimate place to get together with your friends, watch sports, drink beer and eat wings.
There you have it. If you love wings, beer and sports like we do, then this is the place for you. If you don’t like any of those things… we still might have something you’d like.
